Stammtisch

Everyone has to go to Stammtisch. Period.
Last night was hillarious- we sat around eating Lebkuchen and drinking Gluehwein whilst Irini told us fairy tales and then we had to make one up ourselves before we left to go to Einies. It involved a pink magical elephant who had lollies, some painters, blue frogs, sainsbury's men, a squishy orange frog on the projector, and a purple elephant. There was also a joke involving Postman Pat.

Einies was really funny too- it involved phase 1, 2 and 3 of naff songs and naff singers. Needless to say I didn't get to bed until 3am.

Right now I'm pretty stressed- am at home and discovered that what I need from my Linguistics book isn't there. So I may have to buy another edition, which is a pain as I'll only use it once. Emailed Pierre in a state of panic.

It took me an hour to photocopy all of my 11 ILT tasks. Eep.

Only managed to do half an hour of revision today due to being busy. Gotta get down and do more tomorrow.

Last blog of the semester

This is my last post of my first semester here at Aston. I might post during the holidays though. Technically term doesn't finish until tomorrow but I have tomorrow off and am leaving then. Would've left today but I really wanna go to Stammtisch cos it gets funnier every week and I don't wanna miss the last one of the year.

Highlights of this week:

Revision is still going great although I want the exams to hurry up now!

I made Emmanuelle Labeau's day by giving her a Christmas card on Monday. Aww.
On Tuesday Uwe Schuette cracked a funny joke in history: "Don't spell my name Uwe with an umlaut. Its UWE. Uwe with an umlaut makes me sound like a baby." LOL.

Evy also said, "I think I should wear black." cos it was our last lesson with him. I'm gutted that he won't be back until my 3rd year and I'll be on my placement then. It also means that you freshers won't get to meet him next year unless he's back for the second half of the semester. You'll have to make do with our stories. Big shout out to Uwe!!!

On Wednesday I got loads of work done. I also got my exam timetable and TP2 timetable and I still have Wednesdays and Fridays off. Woo. I've gone up by 2 extra hours- I'm doing 13 next semester instead of 11. I only have one 9am start. Yay. I'm sad that one of my favourite lecturers, Pierre Larrivee, won't be teaching me next term for Linguistics as its only for the French people. I swear Germans get left out. So a big shout out to Pierre!!! Woo.

Today in German Communication Elisabeth showed us a stupid pop video and we all sat laughing at it. Then she told us a cool xmas joke. A perfect man and perfect woman got married and had a perfect wedding. They were walking down the street when they saw a large man who turned out to be Santa. They decided to help him with his sack of presents because they're so perfect and kind. Later they had an accident in the couple's perfect car. Who survived? (Only one)

The woman because you can't get a perfect man and everyone knows that Santa doesn't exist!!!

The man's side of the joke is that the woman had to pay tax as she was such a bad driver she caused the accident.

I also got a CD from Uwe today. It rules.

Have packed and am off to Stammtisch soon. Woo Mum and cat seeage!!! And also family seeage on Boxing Day :D

Tschuss.

xx

Oops

I woke up 2pm today. I also went out and bought more clothes. I am getting the money back for the shoes for Xmas tho.

I haven't done any revision today. I suppose I'm allowed a day off right? I'll try and do it tonight (fat chance) or tomorrow. I have my culture presentation tomorrow, wish me luck!!

Parties

The German Soc party was so much fun! We all ate way too many Lebkuchen and drank too much Gluehwein. I videoed a couple of songs sung by us at the party and then later in Einies at kareoke. The first one is hillarious- all of the guys are singing "Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht" and they're so flat. I also vidoed everyone singing "Don't speak" by No Doubt. I also joined in with everyone singing "Angels" by Robbie Williams.

Apparently there was room inspection yesterday. I never saw the lady but I don't have a note or anything saying that she wasn't happy.

The snow party last night was pretty fun. The snow machine was the best thing ever. Paul and Bradley from S Club were there lol.

Revision is going pretty well even if I am getting a bit lazy now. I have one more Linguistics topic to do which I'm gonna try and do this afternoon, I have 3 more history topics, probably a few more german topics and translation is finished. My culture presentation is done (I'm doing it on Monday so wish me luck!) and I've done the essay plan, and just need to do the essay now. Woo.

A weasel sat on a can of diesel...and blew up!

Home was really fun. Mum and I went out shopping and it was great to spend time together as we hadn't gone out since September. I also went back into school to visit my old teachers.

The last day at Build a Bear was eventful. I stayed on an extra 2 and a half hours and the stuffing machine broke (we're sure that the motor burnt out, but the boss won't admit it) so we had to handstuff people's bears. It takes ages and its so tiring. I made myself a leaving bear and one as a present.

The noise has gotten so bad in our flat that one of the girls reported the guy who keeps bringing his mates over. Hoping I'll get sleep tonight cos I keep feeling exhausted, and just for once I'd like to turn up to Linguistics feeling awake!

The above quote is from Translation this morning. Christina asked us to translate a poem about a weasel who sat on a pebble for the sake of the rhyme. I decided to keep weasel and found diesel went well. Was on the phone to Mum and she came out with that! Haha. Translation rules.

We had our new culture teacher Stefan turn up today. He's really nice but very quiet and typically reserved.

Was gonna go out to Oceana tonight, but they sold out :( Nevermind- German Soc party on Thursday and Snow School Daze on Friday :D
